Joel has been providing spiritual care in various capacities and contexts, including long-term care and pediatric medicine, since 2007. Joel is currently serving as the Manager of Spiritual Care and Pastoral Education for the North Region of Allina Health. He has a Ph.D. in Pastoral Care and Counseling and Master of Divinity with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy . His research focuses on the intersection between spirituality and grief. These experiences have equipped him well as a chaplain. In times of unrest, he seeks to partner with patients and families in order to co-create narratives of strength, hope, and peace.
Ken is a full-time chaplain at Abbott Northwestern Hospital having worked there since 2011. Ken holds a Master of Divinity degree in cross-cultural ministry and is certified through the Association of Professional Chaplains. He also works as an on-call chaplain at Children's Hospitals of Minnesota. Ken teaches a weekly Wellness Class at Abbott in the cardiology unit and conducts bi-monthly Wisdom Legacy Circle sessions at The Waters on 50th Senior Living Community. He has served 25+ years as a pastor in churches in Philadelphia, PA, Upstate NY, New Hope, MN and Northfield, MN. He has suffered through the sudden death of his wife in 1999 and teaches grief recovery from his own experience and through the incorporation of helpful related materials.
Mark is a board certified Clinical Pastoral Educator, hospital chaplain and ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. He received his master of divinity degree from Chicago Theological Seminary while he trained as a chaplain at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Mark is strongly rooted in a holistic philosophy of health and believes that attending to the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of our being can enhance the quality of our lives. He loves to be part of others transformational learning and growth.
Kyle has served across the Allina Spiritual Care and Pastoral Education Department since 2003, working with advanced heart failure and mental health patients in particular. He is currently the manager of the East Region and is based at United Hospital. He is a Clinical Pastoral Educator and enjoys working creatively with interns and residents as they find their way into soulful care in the complex modern healthcare setting. In addition to his spiritual care practice, Kyle is a marriage and family therapist, specializing in Internal Family Systems and other models that promote self-compassion and understanding.
Abbie has been a staff chaplain at United Hospital and River Falls Area Hospital since 2016. She graduated with her Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School in 2015 and did her clinical chaplaincy training at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. She is currently full-time at United, providing spiritual care to patients, families, and staff on the medical and neuro ICUs and the heart and lung units. Her self-care includes commuting to work in as many creative ways as possible - biking, canoeing, and even one post-snowstorm Nordic ski session.
Crystal has been providing spiritual care to people along the spectrum of life. The majority of her work has been with maternal health, but sheƒ��ƒ�‚¢ƒ�‚¯ƒ�‚¿ƒ�‚½ƒ�‚¯ƒ�‚¿ƒ�‚½s also spent time working with patientƒ��ƒ�‚¢ƒ�‚¯ƒ�‚¿ƒ�‚½ƒ�‚¯ƒ�‚¿ƒ�‚½s near the end of life and those going through rehab after a major health event. As sheƒ��ƒ�‚¢ƒ�‚¯ƒ�‚¿ƒ�‚½ƒ�‚¯ƒ�‚¿ƒ�‚½s worked with these diverse populations Crystal has noticed the theme of grief and resiliency as she comes alongside people in her role. She is currently serving as a Chaplain at United Hospital in St. Paul with the majority of her work revolving around the Mother Baby Center. She has her Masters of Theological Studies degree with an emphasis in pastoral care and counseling from Bethel Seminary.
Katie Oxley works as a chaplain at Buffalo Hospital where she has the honor of witnessing the courage, beauty, and wisdom of those experiencing physical pain, emotional upheaval, and spiritual discernment. She has a Masters in Theology and Culture and is a certified Spiritual Director.
Deanna is a Staff Chaplain at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids and has been a Chaplain with Allina Health since 2016. She has a Masters of Divinity degree and previously served as an adjunct professor. Deanna specializes in the care of patients and families in the Intensive Care Unit as well as Neurology and Oncology floors where she believes in the importance of working as an interdisciplinary team and of offering presence, hope and strength to those affected by illness, grief, and loss.
Rev. Reid Olson, M.Div, is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Divinity School, where he focused his degree on grief, counseling, trauma, psychology, and practical theology. Reid has been with Allina Health for nearly three years, and is currently located as Mercy Hospital - Unity Campus and the Cambridge Medical Center. When he is not on the job, he can most often be found baking bread in the kitchen, painting, doing carpentry, and trying to figure out just what his kitten has gotten into now.
Ian is a board certified Staff Chaplain at Mercy Hospital - Unity Campus working with diverse populations to include those struggling with addiction and mental health. He has served in the U.S. Army for almost 20 years and is currently the chaplain for a Combat Operational Support Control detachment, which provides outpatient mental health services to service members. Ian received both a M.A. in Pastoral Counseling and Master of Divinity from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.
Aaron Unseth is a staff chaplain at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. Aaron especially enjoys learning about how spiritual care and mental health care can work together to promote healing. Aaron has a Masters of Divinity degree and spent 12 years as a parish pastor before stepping into the health-care field.
